English Chess Forum

Just a quick note to let people know that the English Chess Forum has had to move location to http://www.ecforum.org.uk/. It was originally the English Chess Federation official forum, but the ECF has decided to disassociate itself with it, blaming it for losing sponsors. Looks more like they don't want freedom of expression to me. Anyway, the ECF has removed any links to it, but I'd recommend the forum to all English players as a good way of debating issues and keeping up to date with the latest news and politics.

I see it's still interesting in its debate of ECF, but it also appears that many who want to change things, have already tried, failed and aren't trying again...

Good to see a sub forum on the Dresden Olympiad

You can see all the registered countries and players here..

I hope good things have come out of this forum for british chess and it's not only a complain forum.

USCF has had its share of problems with its issues forum. It's moderated and one has to be a USCF member to see it. All the chess polical dirt ends out at the usenet chess politics group.

Received chess in time as a Christmas gift - I had to convince the recipient that it was indeed "Chinese" chess and not regular chess because both the recipient and his mother thought that Chinese chess pieces had to be round circles. The details were finer than I expected and very nice. Great paint job - looks hand painted but I could be wrong. Each piece had a good weight/ feel to them as well. The box which doubles as the playing board was decent quality - the box for the set I received was lighter in color than in this picture but it was still nice. Overall, better than I expected, but not mind-blowing for the price.
