Just heard the news that Bobby Fischer died. I hope people remember him for his chess, not necessarily for what happened in his latter years. Rest in Peace.

Indeed, let's hope his chess is praised and remembeered, rather than his other obsessions.
I wouldn't say he inspired me, as back then I woudln't have understood a fraction of what he was doing, but I do remember the 1972 chess match in Iceland. It would seem almost unthinkable today to realise how much and how often they were on TV, but its true, Even my Mum can remember and she has zero interest in chess !
A good obituary link, and not surprising considering its Leonard Barden ( his books & Golombek's 'The Game of Chess'were probably the first chess books I read. Where on earth are are they now ? I will have to dig them out )

Best game ? Well, the one I see so often and amazes me now is, the Byrne game when he was only 14/15 or so ? Wish I could even think like that now...
